Default Google and Backlinks

I know there are many ways to use google search. I was wondering if there are certain google search techniques that people use to help them find backlinks for their site.

There actually are a lot.

You can try typing link:yoursite.com or link:"your anchor text".

You can also replace the word "link" to "links", or "related", or "resource".

Site: your site is the easiest way. But google, yahoo, and msn webmaster tools are perhaps the next easiest way to find links.

You can use link: yoursite.ext and related: yoursite.ext
You can use these backlinks to increase your Pagerank and get more visitors.

This definitely gives the exact analysis on your site's backlinks and the pages that are already indexed.

This command will show Google back links. But this method is not accurate.Only few links will be shown. Best method to get backlink information is setting up Google analytic.

Well, the more often technique to find links in google is by typing-

link:www.yourdomain.com

and also you can find all backlinks of your site by using webmaster tools.

also you can type- "yourdomain.com" and you can get many links to your site looks like you have backlink but they are not actually backlinks.

Use this syntax to find back links on Google:

Code:

Building links to your site should be an ongoing process of research, communication and attaining quality in-coming links to your web site.

Anways, what most people suggested in this thread are correct.
link:url
related:url
put in the url the url of your competitors. yahoo explorer is also a good backlink search tool.

You've to use link:your site URL. Getting quality backlinks increase your site popularity and PR. Also links from relevant or niche sites help you to get target traffic.

Google doesn't report all the links. I've been tracking Google links vs Yahoo links on about 25 sites I manage for the last year and with every backlink update the amount reported was decreased until the last one was less than 10% of what yahoo reports.

So take whatever google says x10 and you should get a roundabout number of actual links.

I agree, this method will only show few links. You will not see it all. it only means that this is not accurate..

Use Yahoo Site Explorer for a more complete list. For example, G shows about 30 links for my home page while site explorer shows close to 3k.

The second number is much more accurate!
