Default Anyone Use MySpace.com For Marketing?

    Hi Everyone,

I'm looking to make this a very lively thread..

So, post your views, comments, thoughts, and history
if you have any, about using myspace.com to market
    your internet products and services.

I myself have just started to use it.
And, in my opinion so far, it's an absolutely
incredible venue to brand your name,
market your internet products, anything that
you market with a website or any other means..

So please chime in with your experiences, comments, or questions

    Warmest Regards,

ya, its lame, i kinda stopped doing what i planed on doing it could make a few sales but i doubt its very effective, If you do try you should use something like a adder robot it will add friends for you all day, and its dirt cheap they even gotta free trial. Someone was saying ringtones to OK. I tried selling "rap beats" and some other little kid stuff i forget.

They gotta a hella lot of people but most of them are crdit cardless kids

product better have pay pal, im telling you im not far from a kid, and i could never buy anything off line that only excepted credit card, if i didnt see a paypla sign, dooloop, mouse over the little X in the right hand corner. What ever you sell online if it has paypal put a paypal sign and if it dont dont sell it to kids

i dobt alot of kids even have a bank account i know i didnt till i was 18 im 18 now and so they have to run to there mommys and it doesnt work most of the time

    Hi cj1223,
I don't know how long it's been since you tried to
market there, but it's now on the top internet
    marketers on the planets radar.

Anywhere, especially on One Website, where you
    have over "110 million members"
you're going to be able to market to much more than kids.

Sorry to disagree with you. But, I'm talking about
internet marketers who are now very actively making
    myspace a powerful marketing medium.

    I mean names like:
    Yanik Silver
    Marlon Sanders
    Mike Filsaime
    Brad Fallon
    Willie Crawford
    Jason James
    Brian T. Edmondson
    Tellman Knudson
    Mike Merz
    Anthony Blake
    Michel Fortin
    Michael Rasmussen
    Jonathan Mizel
And waaayyy too many more to list here.

If you think for one moment that these
big time, world renown marketers would waste
their valuable time on this site marketing their
wares, then I think you better reevaluate what you think.

Just airing my opinion. Not saying anything
    personal against you cj1223..

Check out my sigfile and see what I'm saying

Thats cool, do you do well with that ebay site? Do you really take alot of time getting friends? Do you hand pick them? Your profile looks good.

You would have to be careful about that type of thing. How you go about adding friends, sending messages and such. If you get flagged too many times for spam, then you're gone. There is a lot of that already. But I've seen some work it right moreso actual merchants than affiliates. Maybe if you had an existing base of regular site visitors. Recruiting and trying to make money thru your MySpace account would be tricky I suppose.

    Hi cj1223
Thanks for your kind words about my profile.
That took a while to do. And a lot of thought.

Yes, I do make a very nice income
from that eBay system I put together.

It really doesn't take all that long to pick friends.
You just find someone else's profile with a whole bunch
of friends on their site. Pick out the ones you feel you would like
to see on your profile, and send them a friend invite.

The worst they can do is ignore your invite or deny it.
So, you pick some more and invite them.

There's a difference in inviting friends to be in your network,
and when they accept, you spam the heck out of them by sending
    messages five times a day.

Or, you could do it the right way, invite them. They accept.
Then you send them a few messages on a purely friendly note.
Telling them you've seen them online for a while, admire their marketing techniques, etc,. etc,.
Then and only then do you see if they'll be open to your offers..

    Hi TrustNo1
You are absolutely right in your statement.
You do have to be careful in your myspace marketing efforts.
But if you do think about it in a businesslike manner.

Only send messages to likeminded people such as yourself,
and don't send a message every single day.

It's "almost assured" you'll make a nice income from your efforts.
And be on noones radar for spamming or other not so nice
    business antics..

Hey lets keep this going. Anyone else have thoughts on this?

"Only send messages to likeminded people such as yourself,"

See that's the problem. If you sent that to me, I would flag it as spam. I already make money online so that would be poor target marketing. I don't go to MySpace so people can send me money making opportunities/how to get rich online kind of stuff. Most people don't. There is a reason people have spam filters, pop up blockers, do not call lists etc. It can work great for some, not so sure for affiliate types. Maybe for merchants, movies, bands, musical artists etc.

    Well, now I see where you came up with your username {Smile}
    Just kidding my friend...

See, that's where we differ. I think that's the reason we marketers
want to see as many money making opps as possible.
Cause you never know which one is going to be the right one
that will skyrocket you to success.

Oh well, I guess we all see things differently.

    "will skyrocket you to success."

You're trying to market to a marketer

I don't sell on ebay and know about misspellings and such. I think on my first site I accidently misspelled something and realized I was getting traffic for it. I have a few things I need to get up on ebay and if it's something that's usually misspelled, I'll add it. I think maybe we just have a different target audience. Some people hoping to make money online target other people wanting to make money online with links on how to make money online.

My target is people who shop online, not other affiliate marketers. Shopping/deal/coupon type site, mainly merchants who actually sell products, many you're likely to see at your local mall.

If you have a legit friends list that you have built yourself of say 1000 friends.

can you post bulitons with links to your site if your site has adsense on it?

Say, post a buliton every time you update the site.

Could this cause google to ban you from adsense program?

I don't think you would have a problem with that. If you tell them to click on the Adsense, then that's where you could get into trouble since that's a violation of terms.

The only problem i would have is hand selecting friends, i would have to use a adder robot which probaly aint as good as hand selection,

its so hard to market on myspace! so many teens...but u can find your niche market by using the search function and do it by age - I have found some success using the advance search and adding them as friends and sending them messages....but overall the network is filled with teens that dont know any better...

i have created an article on myspace marketing, have a read at http://articles.theianternet.com

Biff continues to spam, add friends using bots and put affiliate ads all over mySpace. I expected to be kicked and wanted to see how far you can go. I posted threads here about it a few months ago. Now I just keep it on autopilot. Gets 2 or 3 sales a day and I check it twice a month to see what other mayhem I can get away with.

Recently, it was released that over 50% of mySpace users are over 35.

As long as you don't get a lot of complaints or step on their toes, they could care less what you do IMHO. Believe me, I pushed the envelope to try to elicit a response.

Good Luck and don't overlook the forums there. They are golden

Marketing on sites like myspace was actually on a radio news program I was listening to in the car earlier tonight.

When it hits mainstream media like that, you know it's big and I wonder if it's already to late to capitalise on that boom period. Gonna egt tougher now.

    Biff - BoogalooDude

That's exactly what I've been trying to say in my previous posts.

I've been getting a minimum of 50 sign-ups per day
to my newsletter DIRECTLY attributible to my myspace profile.
Which I can then upsell the heck out of them to my own products.
And affiliate products I'm promoting for others.

And starting about 3 weeks ago, I've been
getting 5 to 8 sales each and every day coming
    DIRECTLY from my myspace efforts.

This is no small thing happening here.
No matter what anybody says about it being mainly
teens on this website, it's still a remarkable
    marketing avenue to pursue.

    Warmest Regards,
    Sandy Hall
