Default Do you think age plays a factor in the success of a website?

I am currently doing a study on the factor age plays on a blog/website.
I have read different opinions, and I am looking for the most opinions that I can get. Please participate in this survey.
Would you rather read about a kid who does SEO, or would you rather read about a 43 year old guy doing SEO?
What about if the kid does so good seo that he is number 1 for a specific keyword even though that in his last 13 articles he hasn't talked about that specific keyword AT ALL.

Will we be writing in the future about lying about your age to do better SEO?

    Very interesting!

I initially thought this was about the age of the site - which does play a role in search rankings.

    However wrt blogger age and success . . . .don`t have a clue !

Let us know about your results!
I work HARD at IM so I hate it when a puny 17 year old makes 6-figures a year!
I call him the $100K Kid. Training methods start at a lousy $1.oo!

    I voted yes!
When I visit a technical website maintained by a 60-year old, I basically expect him to be a professor or a person ahaid of his/her time.
I don't have that expectation when the website owner is 20-40 years old.
I usually skip technical webpages maintained by kids (although I have no doubt that some of them are much smarter than I was back then)

Well wow, those were not the answers I was expecting.
But why do you say you would skip the blog? How do you know the young blogger doesn't have as much info as a more mature one?

After having several sites I would say that age is just part of the picture. Now all things being equal as far as SEO and backlinks I would take the older site.

I will have to stress here that I would find backlinks much more important! Why? Because I have much better traffic and natural search results on the younger domains that have more backlinks.

My oldest domains go back to 99.

I didn't say blog, I said technical website (like SEO stuff, pilot training, construction, etc...)
I didn't say young blogger, I said kid
And I have no doubts that some kids have a website full of great content (or can reach a number 1 position for a specific keyword)...
The nature of your question was IF the age of the information-provider does play a role in my decision to continue reading or not.
I thought that my answer would NOT surprise you or anyone else!

    Good day,

I vote Yes, my decision is based upon my reading on the book "The Search Engine Optimization of Programmers". It has been stressed out there that website aging is being considered as one of the great factors of ranking the website.

I am not picking on you, but please read the original question...
Both "Art" and I thought that the initial question was about the "website's age".
Looks like it's about the "webmaster's age".

I voted "yes" and although if you get a super affiliate in the first year for example and he gives up later the longer sites that I have seem to have a constant "buzz" and branding has taken effect, endorsements have left love, people know its for real in a sea of unrealness.

    Default Age and website

Although age can mean the webmaster brings experience and knowledge, there are certainly many younger webmasters and marketing millionaires who are in their twenties. Alex Goad perhaps?

How long a site has been up in not the question, I think it is more important to know the experience level and success rate of the webmaster that makes the difference. Is it a Mike Merz who has been in the business from day one?

    What do you think?
    May your travels be prosperous...

    Smile Yes

I think age does play a factor in the success of a website because these days it's all about the updates and stuff. Since younger people know more about this generation and what goes on it is a lot easier for the young folks. I think it's harder for old people to learn now and i think younger people have an advantage.
