Hi everybody,

I am not a internet marketing newbie, but when it comes to blogging, I really am a newbie (I discovered Wordpress roughly a month ago). I was wondering why my posts (permalinks) aren't getting indexed by google. I have discovered this thread - http://www.webmasterworld.com/google/3097706.htm - and it gives different solutions to the problem.

I must say that I haven't tried anything yet related to the "robot.txt". I am first experimenting with the sitemap.xls . Now, for some reason (probably related to duplicate content) my sitemap doesn't do the trick (yet, the sitemap only points to the main page and to the individual permalinks)

I have categorized the permalinks into a main category and a sub-category. So each permalink is located in one category and one sub-category.

There is also an archives page located on each page (= another duplicate content issue).

Now, I don't want to s.p.a.m, but please accept my honest request. What would you change in order to get each permalink indexed by google?

So here's my site : www.stevestunt.com
Here's the sitemap : www.stevestunt.com/sitemap.xls

Many thanks to anyone who can offer me the one and only solution. Please don't post speculations. Maybe some of you had the same problem and managed to solve it. That's what I am after.

Your answer is much appreciated!

Steve
P.S. Thank you once more!!!
P.P.S. Again, many many many thanks !!!

Steve:
I do not have your answer.
But your site looks great!!!

I like your honesty, your simple yet sufficiently detailed and well written explanations on the products you have bought and reviewed, and the layout you use to present your site.

Excelente!

Hope you do well!

Your permalinks look fine.

I don't do the Google Sitemap, I just have a regular one. You can use this fantastic plugin (http://www.dagondesign.com/articles/sitemap-generator-plugin-for-wordpress/) with Wordpress to create one.

Your archives, category, etc. won't give you a duplicate penalty.

If your site isn't even a month old then your only problem is patience. :)

Hi Art,

Thanks for the compliments. Just in case you're interested in the lay-out of my site... I started of with the Mistylook theme for wordpress and modified it to my specific needs.

Hi Miles,
Thanks for the advice and the link towards the plug-in. I will definitely have a look at it. Is there any specific reason why you don't use google sitemaps? I am all ears...
Yep, you're probably right... Patience might be an important keyword here. It's kind of frustrating though... My main page got indexed instantly.
I also must admit that I think I did something stupid when I installed Wordpress. When I was experimenting with the lay-out of my site (with some crappy titles and text-pieces), I didn't switch-off the auto-ping feature. So I pinged quite a lot without even knowing it (lol). Maybe that has something to do with it as well.
BTW, Miles, I don't think I have ever seen a nicer site than yours. It is very easy on the eyes and the navigation makes perfect sense. Excellent lay-out and content as well. Just perfect!!!

As Miles said, your only problem is a lack of patience so far ;)

Your permalinks are fine; Google will index them soon enough.

Try to build more links to your site. The more links you have, and the more often your site is updated, the quicker new pages will index. For instance, my own personal blog has new pages indexed often within 24 hours, sometimes less.

Good Luck!

Hi Caydel,

Thanks! It's good to hear you're doing very well. I think both you and Miles hit the nail on its head : regular updates, links and patience.
At this time, I am experimenting with a couple of parameters that are strictly WP related. That's why I haven't done much promotion yet (links, etc...). I just want to find out if a certain WP set-up gives better results than other set-ups.

Thanks again! :)
