...You feed him for a day. If you TEACH an man to fish, you feed him for a lifetime.
Can anyone who might be reading this give us direction on where to go and start really DOING it in the affiliate world?
I have some top google placements with my keywords and ads, but I'm not getting any sales? I have a clickbank account and it has a big, fat goose egg in it!
Any help from anyone(new or experienced) would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you to anyone!

Well dude... it could be one of many things. How targeted are your ads? What are you promoting? How are you promoting it?
Welcome to the forums!

Thanks for the info ClayTRainor. I feel like there are so many facets to this game that putting them all together to write the perfect ad is like a three-legged cat trying to bury a turd on a frozen lake!
Is there a perfect ad?

Yes, there are perfect ads. :) ....
i.e. if i type in "make money in 48 hours" at Google... a good ad would be...
Make Money in 48 Hours
Make Money in 48 Hours with
My Proven System. Start Here.
www.url.com
kw's would be:
make money in 48 hours
"make money in 48 hours"
[make money in 48 hours]
---no more kw's, & no less.
This keeps you highly relevant & targeted. Your ad will stand out because you matched the exact phrase that the searcher typed in. Both occurences of {make money in 48 hours} will be bolded in the ad. This takes more effort, as you will create new adgroups for each phrase, but it works.

When I saw the post title, I thought of another wise saying - If you build a man a fire, he'll be warm for a day. If you SET a man on fire, he'll be warm for the rest of his life . . . :)
I agree with the above post. One of the best ways to start writing good ads is to pick a niche you're going to sell to, and then spend a week or two checking the top 10 ads in adwords for keywords in that niche. Any ads that consistently are shown near the top of the page are performing well, so you can analyse their structure/wording etc. and incorporate them into your own ads. Since different niches have different markets and different 'buttons' you have to press, this can help you get up to speed faster.

Thank you for the help and tips....I will try to incorporate them into my ads...
Keep them coming!
Does it make sense to exploit your target niche by rearranging and tweaking the key phrases and putting out MANY of the same ads with the different phrases, eg.:
make ice cream better
making ice cream better
make ice cream better the best way
how to make ice cream
etc.
OR does it make sense to make and focus your energies on one KILLER ad?

 ... when I saw your post, I thought of why would you want to set someone on fire?. But then it dawned on me as to what it really meant.
Good one ... I should create some stickers for our local fire department.
