PPC Used Widely, but Not Well

Pay-per-click programs are widely used, but not all marketers have the resources available to properly use them, a new study reveals.

Some 44 percent of e-commerce executives surveyed saying they allocate 20 percent of their entire advertising budgets to PPC. Among those who use PPC programs, all reported using Google, 90 percent said they use Yahoo, 76 percent use MSN, and 27 percent use Ask.com, reports eMarketer, citing an e-tailing group study.

Some 40 percent of respondents admit to managing more than 5,000 keywords; 59 percent said they manage their keywords internally, and among them nearly all allocate the task to three or fewer workers; and 27 percent said they did not know what their cost of conversion was in relation to the total dollar value of each sale.

**MarketingVOX (Good news....these are the idiots that spend a fortune on PPC trying to get the No1 position because they don't know any better and help Google make tons of money which sustains the PPC market for the rest of us, good on them :innocent: )

raises bid prices and makes Google think they can kill off all the affiliates!

That's a possiblity but I'd like to think that they're smarter than that.

My first thought was the same as xor0.

All the PPC money in that market is nowadays coming from big companies and it isn´t at all easy for a new AM´r to get started (I believe) - hence the focus no niche marketing.

I have been bottom feeding over the last week flipping AdCents (sic) and am trying apply it to AM but need to up my bids to compete, but from my past experiences, all I have ever been able to do is about break even on my campaigns. As such I have been trying with Travis´BM and I am trying to get back to following that program....seems to work.

But to flip cents to $ in AM takes time and experience.
Hopefully I will crack that nut soon!

I rarely use more than 10 keywords in an ad group, usually less. How many are you using?

Right now i'm only using 6 per adgroup.

that's 6 total, after being wrapped, so really only 2 main keywords / adgroup

I have alot of adgroups :)

Its very, very targeted.

I thought Google itself suggested using OVER 20 kw´s per AdGroup to get best results.

Me, I usually fling in a few dozen and see what seems to work.
probably the wrong way to go, huh?
