I keep hearing adwords is dead, so I really don't know if I should waste time with it. How does everyone else feel, if you do use it?

Is this a copy of adsense is dead? Don't be foolish.. neither adwords nor adsense are anything close, it's just a marketing technique..

IMHO this attitude is two-fold:
1. Some people are touting this attitude just to clear out the competition.
2. Number one is happening because there is so MUCH competition within the keyword market these days.
Case in point: There wouldn't BE that much competition if it didn't just flat out work! There are ways around it though (see my sig)

It's not dead by along shot,

They are attention grabbers, sure, but I have read "the Death Of Internet Marketing", it is an excellent report, in the end it tells that it's not dead, but changing. And it tells what's important to know in order to survive the changes.

From what I've heard, the earning potential is just not there like it once was for adwords.

That's right, but it's not dead. It's still possible to make much money with it.

the potential is most definitely there... there may be more competition, but you can bet that people are cashing in on googles immense amounts of targeted traffic.

Adwords is thriving. That's why it's gotten so expensive for most people.

Adwords is dead?
Oh dear - there goes thousands of people's livelihoods up the swanny,
not to mention google's biggest earner ...
... that's right - google adwords is dead
Did you know that a well-known bank, due to computer error, sent thousands of letters addressed "Dear Rich Ba***rd" to its customers? Goesto show that anything can happen! :)
