Explain Clickbank

Could someone explain clickbank? It sounds sort of like online banking, but there are some parts I don't really understand.

Clickbank is an internet retailer that sells ebooks, software, and other items. Clickbank works with affiliates to market the products. Affiliates earn commissions for each sale through Clickbank. Billing is then handled by Clickbank.

Yeah, I've heard about this one. I have someone currently explaining this whole affiliation thing to me, and it sounds pretty interesting.
