Hello to all...

I'm new to the buisness, just starting out and trying to learn as much as i can. This forum is as the title implies, a wealth of information.

I stopped by today to look for any recent posts that would lead me to believe that others are having the same problems as I am with Overture.

Unfortunately, I found nothing.

I can't seem to sign up.

Two days in a row I've gone to the site at different times... several times to run through the process. The page opens up and I select self serve, select any country and no news letters or all news letters - it defaults back to United States all the check marks disappear. Then, the page refreshes back to where it started. It doesn't matter what I do - each time I click on continue.. the page refreshes.

I'm not running a pop-up blocker. I've checked, verified and confirmed that java is installed and enabled by testing it at the java site. I'm also using FireFox as my browser.

Any ideas ?

Is anyone else in the same boat ?

Salutations Evergreen

I've never had or heard of that issue. I guess you could try doing it in IE instead of Firefox but regardless, you should email them and let them know.

Good luck and do not get discouraged by Overture. It is very hard to use sometimes but they are revamping it in a few months. It's going to be much better.

Thanks for your speedy reply ~B.

Instead of gnashing my teeth, i'll take your advice and send them an e-mail.

My bad -

Compared to AdWords - it seems that Overture has different terms. To me, they seem reversed.

Overture calls the affiliate the Publisher not the Advertiser.

This led me through the wrong maze during application at Yahoo. I ended up calling them for assistance with the self-serve option that I mentioned earlier and immediately the attendant wanted to wave the $199.00 sign up fee for their Fast track service.

After a brief Q&A session I was enlightened with their terminology and directed to the Publisher's sign up page.

Fully hoping to complete the process, I was again - denied.

They have a code at the bottom of the application that you're supposed to type into another box. I believe that they're called touring numbers... Anyway, the numbers and box were transparent. Completely unreadable and undetectable. The only way that I could tell that they were there was to left click, hold and drag to expose the area.. :frustrate

I fired off an e-mail to Overture explaining what happened. I'll just have to wait for a reply.

P.S
Is everyone in here signing up to Overture with websites ? because I don't have one yet and during the application one of the required fields asks for your webpage addy.. Does this have to be legit or can you just throw something bogus in there to get through the process ? - Obviously to update at a later time..

P.P.S
Some of you may be thinking - Ahhh, that's the problem.. Can't be. I tried leaving it blank and also putting Yahoo.com in the field - touring box still stays blank.

Thanks for reading.

Overture has many issues. Maybe once they revamp in a few months it will be better. Right now they are difficult, at best.

If you are just starting out, learn Google but do it with measured Financial exposure. You can be up and running in under a half an hour with Google. With Overture you could wait up to a week.

Then, your ads could get disapproved as well as a whole mess of problems.

Learn Google.
