But, just a quick rundown...
Find heavily searched words with lower competition, find a product that matches, get a domain, build a site for that product (or sales letter), optimize the page, and wait?
Ive been learning alot, but some of the simplest of things are hard to figure out.
I can probably do a pretty damn good job with SEO of my site from what ive learned. But, I dont know what site I would be optimizing... Get my drift?
Just pretend i was just born, and your explaining how to make money with affiliate marketing from a-z to me, minus the baby talk
lol

FIRST of all, no questions are dumb my dear, so no worries about that. Hmm, affiliate marketing from a to z eh? lets see *taps her chin as she thinks*
Affiliate marketing in a nutshell is to promote other peoples' products for a commission based pay. I'll admit I have seen some on here that can do it for a week, and already make thousands of dollars. Then I have seen some on here that have done it over a year, with hardly nothing at all to show for it. In my personal opinion the main factors that you have to have when doing affiliate marketing are : Knowledge about what you are selling, Passion about what you are selling, and the know how on how to get a target audience to see your advertisements.
Affiliate marketing is a VERY, VERY competitive field. Always remember there is ALWAYS the chance of someone being better than you, and trying to promote the same product. Remember that whenever you write in your blog, or an article, or a classified.

Hey Kimmy... Thanks for the reply and the input...
But what Im really asking here is, basically, what do I do?
Let's look at it like this...
Pretend you are new to all of this, youve been reading 10 hours a day for about a month now, and your figuring things out. You want to make money, the desire is there. You have never made money on the internet. You know how clickbank works, you have the ability to write an ebook, you know how most basic programs work (web site programs, etc), you have decent web knowledge, you have a host, and can get a domain at any time...
What then? Where do you go from there? This is where im stuck...
I know how SEO works, I know all about backlinks, adwords and adsense... I know all about clickbank, ebooks, sales letters, content, etc...
I have a host, I can get a domain, but now what?
I want to start out affiliate marketing, because there are only a few things I know alot about in life, enough to write about anyways, and it seems they are played out (mostly related to dating, and advice for men) so im not sure if the potential for income is worth it. But, its the basics I dont get...
Do you just built an SEO'd page with a bunch of information about a product with aff. links to the product, and try to get it ranked well?
I just dont know what to do... And im getting impatient, lol

"You have never made money on the internet"
First I would slow down and focus. It seems you're spreading yourself out very thin without any success yet. Or have you made any money yet? If not, try to make money with one site first and then go from there. And you know there are other places besides clickbank. Check out cj.com linkshare.com, performics.com, shareasale.com etc. Those are the major networks, might give you some more ideas.

yup.. the key thing is to find somethign you know about, so you know how to promote it and who to promote it to.
Adwords is a very risky way for a newbie to start, i suggest you start by advertising with directories, like the one in my sig, or writing articles.

"USFreeAds is easily the best free advertising opportunity for us affiliates. It can get your ads posted on the topspot on google easy, and you dont have to use PPC!"
Actually I don't understand that. Never heard of that directory and how would someone get traffic from them? Most people use search engines to find stuff. Am curious how exactly it's supposed to get to the top spot of Google.
First starting out, I would concentrate on SEO, learn how to get that free traffic. Then when you start making some money, stick with the SEO and then start trying PPC from the major PPC companies, forget about those 2nd and 3rd tiers. Start very slowly and keep an eye on it. It's a nice skill to have, making money with PPC. And then also start learning how to get traffic from other sources. Lack of traffic is why most fail at this.

Actually, the idea of using usfreeads is to get searcg engine listings. The ads that I have placed and which have turned up on search so far are all on the first page of listings, anywhere from number 1 to number 6.
The idea is if you choose a keyword with, well, 1000 or less is best, search results, you stand a good chance of getting a first page listing.. USfreeads has a high PR, which also helps, any classified site that turns up high in the search rankings is useful for this purpose.

lol... Ok ok ok ok ok, I get what you guys are saying, totally... Every single bit of it... But I only have one question, and it hasnt been touched, hahaha
Its very simple...
You have a product. You write the ads, you have ppc, all that stuff, you have more traffic than myspace, blah blah blah, and its all going to a site that promotes an affiliate product so you can make money, you have killer landing pages and sales letters, etc...
Read that VERY carefully... THEN... Answer this.
What is it your driving your traffic to?
lol
Its simple... All I wanna know is this, once I have everything else mastered, what am I supposed to do??
Im guessing im not saying it clearly enough...
What do you do with it all? do you get a domain name? do you get a domain name for just that product? does anyone have any clue what im trying to ask?
lol
Maybe someone can talk to me for a sec on AIM or something, I guess i dont really know how to phrase my question...

Your frustration has brought me out of lurkdom. LOL. No, you do not need a website or a domain name. You can promote for companies by signing up on their websites and they'll give you a "hoplink" to work with. SOme companies do require that you have your own website, I think anyway, but there is plenty you can do without one. Goodluck.

Read post 7 over again.
If you have a product there are many ways to do it.
Build a site around the product. SEO it so you get free traffic or do some PPC.
For me, I only have a handful of sites. I have a big shopping site so if I want to make a page about a product, theme, seasons, deal, whatever, I just page a page. Link to it from my site map. Might get some more links into that page. Hopefully get some free traffic from the search engines. I might try PPC to that page and if I make money, continue with it.

Let me try :-)
I am not sure, but I think I know what you mean.
I think one of the most common ways to advertise a product or service is to write a REVIEW. Give your personal opinion about it. Stress the benefits, tell people how it solved your problem (saved you time, tought you something important, saved you money etc, etc.)
Write articles covering some problems that are common for a specific group of people and in that article give them the link to your product/service that would be just the perfect solution and don't foget your affiliate link.
Another way is a banner. If you use a banner, try and make it look like a text link (use transparent background etc.). I have one of those at the bottom of my site's pages. It does not even look like one.
If I think of some other ways, I will post more.
Hope it helps,
