i can't stress enough the benefits of having your own domain name registered and a paid hosted website.but if you're a just starting out, with a limited budget and want to safely test the waters. can i get away with having a squeeze page or a lead capture page on a free hosted website? it is just one page, the most important thing is to get the names and emails of your visitors.

I wouldn't even bother with a free host, for only $6 a month and $6 for a domain name you should buy one.

If you cannot afford $12 then you probably should focus on getting a better job or saving your money so you have a little bit of disposable income instead of trying to market online.

Hmm if you buy a domain you never loose, because you can resell it later with your traffic for same price or more (even i would buy it back, so dont be afraid to spend money on domain, its cool)
Freehosting? I dunno mate if you dont care about their banners on your site and loosing traffic you can try it,if they dont put banners anyway its a catch. of course better that then nothing
