First off, thanks to Travis for that excellent Bum Marketing Course.

I wrote my first article yesterday but it left me with a couple of questions that I would be grateful if someone was able to answer.

The product I chose was the 2nd most popular one in the category which I knew was a bad idea since there would be more competition but I wanted to get one under my belt.

My first question is, what should I be looking for when choosing a product? There are soooo many options I have no idea what products I should be trying to promote. On Clickbank you can rank the products several different ways. What stat should I look to target when choosing a product (i.e. should I look for gravity, $earned/sale, %earned/sale, % referred, commision %, etc.,).

The steps that I went through in writing my first article are as follows:

1. Pick product to promote on clickbank.
2. Choose keyword(s) to target in your promotion.
3. Write article.

Also is the bio box on goArticles.com the only place where I am supposed to place my affiliate link. Travis' course said to put it there so am just double checking if I read that right.

Also I am looking to set up my own website. What are some of the tools that you guys used to build your websites? I haven't built a website before but have programming experience in java, C, and C++.

If you could answer any of these questions I would appreciate it. Thanks!

You have steps 1 and 2 backwards in my opinion. Your first step is to find a kw phrase that has less than 500 optimized results and a decent amount of searches. Obviously, you will have picked out a general niche. But until you know exactly what you can taget effectively, no need to box yourself in.

It's also possible to put the affiliate link in the main body of the GoArticles article, but I don't think Travis said to do that.

I use the program Dreamweaver to build websites. It''s a wysywyg html editor with lots of nice shortcuts. But all you really need is to install WordPress (which is open source software) on your web host and you'll have a great website. It uses the php programming language on a MySql backend, which should be easy for you to pickup, although you don't need to touch any of the code if you don't want to.

Get yourself a nice logo and you'll be good to go. If you want, learn a little photoshop and make your own.

There is no point putting affiliate links there in the main body. I would actually recommend making a splash page on your own domain selling the product, rather than a direct affiliate link. Just my 2 cents.
