Should you just make sites that advertise something and crank them out, submit them all to the search engines, then move on to making new sites all the time?
Is that a good way to go?
And is it ok to put all your sites on the same domain, just in different directories and different names?
I just dont know exactly what to do.

Well I believe quality over quantity. Having 10 sites that are not even worthwhile to visit IMO is a lot worse than one good site.
Google and it's aging delay makes it impossible for new sites to rank nicely in keywords - this was implemented because Google wanted to stop networks like the ones I think you are mentioning.
And is it ok to put all your sites on the same domain, just in different directories and different names?
Same domains different names?
Don't get you :P
Good luck anyway!

you can put different things on the same domain, they are called sub domains. The best thing to do is to keep looking, and not to rush into anything. I rushed in and went into the hole because of it. Take your time, and see what is right for you. :)

I agree with the first two but be careful about submitting websites don't do it to often or they will call you a spamer and delist your sites.
also don't have links on websites that go to the same place if thats what you do you will end up with the same result spam
just research everything learn from everybody than decide what you will use but most importantley DO IT.
