I was wondering is writing articles a good free way to get started. I was told that using adwords as a newbie is a no-no.

I think that's the perfect way to run a newbie forum.. when we(the noobs) ask for advice etc, the people who have been here can direct us to the threads on the site where it's been discussed.

I agree with Trudat, Bum marketing is a great way to get started without having to spend any of your money. I highly suggest to check that thread out for all those interested in article writing :)

I would research keywords realated to the website I was promoting...... copy them over to get great keyword density... then I would post my with link in te middle then past the keywords at the bottom..believe it or not this use to work great..now things have changed a bit...and its also considered spam by some....but it was free and effective

Ernest - Welcome to the Forum!
If you are writing articles following the Bum method, might I recommend the site in my sig to submit your articles to?
It may give you somewhat of an edge over traditional article sites such as Ezinearticles or GoArticles in that I have implemented modern SEO techniques to help your article get to the top of the Google SERPS, as well as started a revenue sharing program, which allows authors to collect 50% of the adsense income generated by their articles, yielding an immediate revenue stream.
Whatever you decide, I wish you good luck in your endeavours - you have come to the right place to learn about affiliate marketing - there are a lot of very sharp people here!

It's work, but has a nice multiplicative effect.
We just posted a couple of stories last week on article marketing, one of which includes an exploration of the infamous duplicate content penalties. Lots of myths floating around out there about those, which I hope we've helped clarify...

neither of those links work :( it's a shame cause i was really looking forward to reading about the duplicate post phenomona(or however u spell it)
And Ernest... as i'm sure you already discovered registering a premium account at USFreeAds (http://www.usfreeads.com/18003_refer.html) is probably the best solution for a newbie to get started with article marketing... Travis claims that you can get a topspot on any keyword that has 1000 listings on google, but i honestly think you can go way beyond that 1000 mark... u just got to target lots of specific keywords appropriately within the article.

did you subscribe to bummarketingmethod.com yet? cause if you do and you wait a couple days, you'll get a video of Travis showing you exactly how to post an ad, and target keywords. It shows you how simple it really is.
i love usfreeads so far.

Yes, I am new here I have subscribed to the bum marketing and it is really great. I have a similar guide as well but bum marketing is much better and cuts out having to create a website to use along with the ads or articles written great job thanks for sharing.

I didn't like it. I was paid maybe $7.00 per article for this one website. Too much work, not enough $$. But maybe it will work out for you. Good luck
