Can I ask a question please, I personally find popups of any kind amazingly annoying, especially when I open or close a page, and my resistance is at its highest, as opposed to its lowest?

No, I agree. I don't mind a floating ad but I don't care much for popups.
That being said, a lot of people use them with success so the technique still seems to work. I do not use them on most of my sites personally.

If you're like me, and block them anyway then a ton of people never see them...

I suppose then it depends on what you want out of a person, pop-ups may mean that on 1 day you will get more per person; however that person is less likely to come back. I personally prefer long term money farming.
