I've been using a free FTP program (maybe that's my problem right there) and it's been working fine since I got it several months ago. The name is CoreFTPLite. Yesterday it loaded some files from my harddrive to my server as it usually does with no problems. Then later in my download session I turned off my brain and proceeded to shut down the program as it was transfering data. Now no matter what I do I can't get the darn thing to work again. When I click on the Quick Connect button the Connect window comes up with Hostname, User name, Password. I checked all that several times and it's all correct b/c I used the same info to log in to cpanel and it lets me in there just fine. Then I hit the Connect button and it trys to connect by saying:

/Connect socket #952 to 209.9......, port 21.../

but it doesn't and then I get the following joyful red message:
/Can't establish connection --> 209.9.....:21 @ Mon Aug 07 16:43:42 2006 (0-5)/

I've even tried changing the port to 22 and get the same type of results. I've also removed the program from my computer and reloaded it again. No luck, same thing.

Anyone know what might be the problem or perhaps better program to use?

Thanks
Paul

sounds like you need to do a reinstall. It wont hurt any files or anything if you do that, you would just have to renenter the server names, and whatnot. Sometimes programs go buggy like that, I hate it when that happens lol

I would suggest FireFTP. It's basically an FTP client built into firefox when you install a plugin. It can be a little buggy at times, but for the most part it works great for me and I would highly recommend it.

That sounds good, are there any similar typed plugins for opera or other explorers?

Hmm... not that I know of. Just FireFox, but I'm sure there are others somewhere. Do a search. :P

It could be an issue with the server.
