Chargebacks are bad news.

yes i would rather refund then get a charge back, as a merchant once your charge back ratio gets to a point you are charged more or even dropped.

Isn't the allowed ratio usually around 1-2%?

Isnt there a time limit to when you can charge back?

It usually varies depending on the credit card issuer.

so what's the average? lol

I think around 180 days (6 months).

The period can be longer if there is a product guarantee involved.

visa will charge back a year.
but 6 months is the lowest I think.

ya its generally 2%.
and if you cant refund then that will be used up pretty quick.

Your right. That could get out of hand really quickly.

It was my understanding that for clickbank the threshold is 0.75%. They say that the penalty is between $5 and $50. Last I checked, it was $15, but if you exceed 0.75% (not sure what time frame they use for this), it goes up to $25 and they "reserve the right to delist your products."

It is always my policy to provide no questions asked refunds just so I don't need to worry about it, of course this means the price goes up for everyone because it has to be built in to the cost of doing business.

After 3 months who is going to remember to chargeback?

Its the receipt thats still in their email that gets us, they are cleaning out their email and they see "If you want to refund this...blah blah they are like ok, cool -even though they like the product -thats some bull...ish

If I get a chargeback it happens in the first month,

Ive gotten refunds like three months later -and with these people using my bandwidth downloading 50 megs of my music and then refund?..... :shoot:
