This is a question that have been on my mind recently. I am in the process of building my website on my own, but I have no idea on how to go about creating header graphics for my website.

The pages are all up, but the website looks naked as the top on evey page there is something missing.

So I would appreciate any tips, software, ideas or resources on how to get this done.

As far as tips go, it really depends on what software you have or are looking at purchasing. It may be easier for you to look at hiring a designer for your site. I could help if you are interested. PM me.

There are many packages, my suggestion is to hire someone or to do it yourself. To do it yourself you need a decent graphics software program and some skill. PM me, I may be able to help you out.

There are a few designers on this forum including myself and I'd be willing to help you out using Adobe Photoshop CS2 for only a small amount ($10?)

These background are easy. You can download the actions for Photoshop at Photoshop Xchange. You can download a ton of plugins / actions over there that you can use on the fly. :)

I use fireworks/photoshop/flash to make header graphics. I'll use various text, gradients, and stock photography as well as design my own icons on occasion.

It's not that hard. You can probably come up with it with under an hours work.

I will wait for the day when experties can be transfered through micro-chips, you can just go to some shop and ask them for adobe photoshop chip, once you have installed in your mind through some machine then you have all knowledge, and you can then design your self.

I am searching the person, can anybody make adobe chip for me? Please? lol

Before you hire a designer, give GIMP a download at www.gimp.org. It's an open source image creation/manipulation application similar to Fireworks and Adobe. Sit and play with the an image about 800px x 100px and at least figure out what you would like to see. If you rough out generally what you want, you can give it to the designer and save yourself on billable time.

Hope this helps.

I don't know what logo designers you have used, however I, myself have never found one that works by the hour as opposed to by the job.

if you know photoshop or any other graphics software, then you can do it you own. Heades are simple but it should be the best graphics in you website since it bears the name of your firm/website, its your banner. If you dont know then i suggest that you visit freealnce sites like scriptlance.com or getafreelancer.com, there are lots of people there who can help you. Also, you can e-mail through marixwold@yahoo.com. I can help you with your graphics designing needs including server-side web development using PHP and MySQL.
