This, for me at least has been one heck of a ride. I am into it for almost 2 years now. In the 2 years spent, I am now at the stage where I can say I am close to being able to make a living off of it. Somedays I really struggle. Somedays, I can relax. It is NOT EASY.
To enter into this business thinking that your Bank Account will be bursting with cash in a couple of weeks is probably not going to happen. Get used to long days or evenings. Get used to competition coming at you from every angle. Get used to having to spend money with lossess accruing daily before you make any sales. This is an endless list.
Every single day, and I do mean this, presents a new challenge. Every single day.
I have even considered quitting it at times because of the Stress Levels. However, I was talked out of it by a certain individual in here :) . He knows who he is.
On a positive note, when you have put in the time, you should be able to quit your job. Of course that all depends on what you are earning doing what you are doing right now.
My suggestion is to continue to work at your present job and do this in your free or spare time. Once you feel you are at a point where you could quit, stay at your present job and continue to do this until you are making at least 25% more than you are earning now with your present job, and have a nice reserve in your Bank Account from your ClickBank cheques. (Save, Save, Save!)
Then, I would say go at it full time.
This is my opinion based on my own personal experiences.

To be an affiliate you just have to learn basic, basic html and get down with geocities and spend some time learning the biz...To be a Clickbank publisher and succeed you need to have big brains and skills in all around multimedia

While working for someone else you are safer than for yourself.
But what the hell. It is more fun to be myself. And clickbank & adsense has that credibility and ability to do that.

I don't know about making a living off of clickbank - I've only been able to make 1 sale so far. CPC advertising is starting to look like my best bet, although since I've started my blog, making a page with no monetary aims whatsoever is really quite enjoyable!

The keyword to online success "AFFILIATES" & "EDUCATION"
Affiliates really have to learn who you really make most of your money from online. Become an affiliate of a Two-Tier affilaite program, promote your product as much as you can... With the amount of sales you promote, somewhere in between your 5 sales, you have made 2 sub affiliates to add to your downline. What they promote in your two tier affiliate program is what will assist you in a full time income online. You make commission from there sales as well as your own. I promote over 300 products... when I first started I promoted 1 - Huge increase... If you only promote one, yes you are going to have an insane time trying to get past the competition. So get up there, apply to as many as you can, and tell affiliates what you have found... You will notice a HUGE difference in only a few weeks.
http://www.affiliatetier.com/promo/30incomes.php - I keep adding to my list every day. I have a redirect page to over 75 two tier programs and 237 original programs. Stop selling only 5-10 products and start selling 500. Every sale you get should not be going into your bank account. Work full time at a real job for 6 months. Use $100 for advertising a month... 6 months = $600.00 in advertising which should bring you to 1500 - 2000 for the next two months :).. Now that is truly the only way you are going to make it big and quick.
This is almost gauranteed to give you double your investment if you are advertising a product Affiliates & Customers can use... TWO TIER so if you don't make a sale, your Sub-Affiliates might... One of my subs from a year ago makes 3-4 times as much as I do, and I introduced him. I make more money off of Sub Affiliates than I could possibly make alone. I have started to pay other people $50 / lead for some programs I have found, I only make $5 / lead, but when 17 sub affiliates are selling for you... so much less work and less investment on your part.
My greatest feat, was using http://www.affiliatetier.com/redirect.php?red=email when I first started... you get to send your product line to every single affiliate using the program. And it only costs $34.95 for a lifetime membership. You WILL pick up Sub Affiliates. If anyone has any questions on programs, I have a HUGE list I can promote to you. :) Just another Sub Affiliate to add to my downline :)
