I don't, but I'm glad to see you want to research what you are promoting before you sell it. You will certainly maximise your affiliate sales with this train of thought.

Most if not all those sites are borderline illegal (if not totally illegal for false advertising), they offer access to software that is widely available for free on the net.

Expect extremely high refund rates as many customers will be pissed off once they realize they were scammed.

Typical structure of one of these sites is...

Give customer link to download EMule.

Give customer PDF with step by step instructions for installing and running EMule

Give customer support website that is basically the same as the PDF

Offer customer live support via chat or phone

Many have stopped the chat or phone because it is too easy to get tricked into discussing theft openly and thus becoming culpable.

Many years ago when I was a bartender, we had a saying.
"Serve 25 cent beers and you'll get a 25 cent beer crowd."
In this business you are selling to thieves so your gonna get a thievish crowd :)
Lots of returns chargebacks and just plain old fraud.

Enjoy!

If you want to have less refunds, try to target people who have no idea about p2p and want download movies, music, psp games, etc. These people are usually old folks.

Talking about P2P ...you can find some of clickbank's products in a file sharing network... It is good way to learn about what you promote but remember:

1. If you are going to use that program ...please buy it ...someone worked hard for it
2. Be very careful not to download a virus
3.You might also find advertising information about the product

Miles,

So is running offers for, say, Shared Music or Movie downloads on my site a bad idea? I used to get a number of sales but they surely have slacked off - big time ...

It's a hyper-competitive niche, if you're really good, you might make some money in the short term, but the high refund rate will catch up with you later. Legally, as an affiliate you aren't responsible for the content from a legal standpoint BUT it's certainly important to consider what service the site actually provides as it relates to your refund rate.

In general I think this market should be avoided for reasons already stated by others (high refund rates, legal issues, etc.). If still want to pursue it and you find a site you want to promote, try contacting the affiliate manager for temporary access. I've done this several times and have not been turned down yet.

All of these that I have tried do have a very high refund rate! I would be careful.
