While I agree with that statement to an extent, I've found that when I break down my compensation on an hourly basis, it keeps me more motivated to make sure that every hour I spend counts. If you're pulling in say $100K a year, that's roughly $50 per hour if you use a typical 40 hour work week.

So using that example above, I would be asking myself, "have I been worth $50 or more this hour? Have I put in the work or study that is making me $50 or more this hour?" It really keeps me focused in the moment and always has my mind turning over looking for solutions.

Well. My story is different. I just shut down a bunch of music related sites which earned about $150 per month from Google ads. This last check was the highest. I feel like a dummy but I started up this new venture focusing helping others market real stuff online. I am trying to build traffic with this new site.


I also shut down the music related sites as it seemed to be liability against me as i searched for a real job.
