In other words, traffic is great, but you want traffic that is actually interested in what you have to offer. Try article submissions to article directories or blog posts to blog carnivals. You definitely want to make sure you are offering great value and including a link to your site in your signature line. (Though some sites will allow links in the body of the article, most don't.)
