Let's make a list together!:sleazy:
1. Print up some business cards with your URL featured prominently.
Leave them at restaurants, on the community bulletin board at the supermarket, in public restrooms, and hand them to the person sitting next to you on the plane. The word will get around.
2. Send out a postcard or two.
Postcards announcing your new website can be sent to friends, relatives, business acquaintances, and old flames, even the ones you broke up with. A postcard is more likely to be read than a form letter. An online postcard service, you can use, is SendOutCards
3. Print up some flyers.
Hand them out at public events. Check with local laws in your city to make sure this is okay.
4. Put an ad in the newspaper.
Believe it or not, people still read the classifieds. You can pick up a visit or two that way.
5. Print out some flyers and door to door drop them in the
areas you want to target.
6. PPC

I tried handing out flyers on local events once. Most of the flyers did make a nice pile on the street, everybody was throwing them away :(

All those requires time, money, and efforts so you can't possibly do all of them even if you have the time. And yet again are they really worth the time, money, and efforts or just temporary results.
So what i believe in is always the search engine for whatever reason it is still the best of all the methods you listed.

If you thought you had to build your website traffic by getting a ton of inbound links or spending money on pay per click (PPC) advertising you need to rethink that old strategy. What was de rigueur for internet marketing two years ago does not apply today!
