Are you Affiliates emailing your clickbank customers to give them a invite to join your newsletter and get a free gift or mini course? I noticed that clickbank gives us the emails of people that bought though our affiliate links. Would it be against the spam can law or clickbank policies?
This seems like a great idea to me. You could also do this to seperate people that are prospects to buyers. Thus, have a buyers list from people that bought through your affiliate links for a targeted niche.

My theory is that if ClickBank is giving you the customer email then they obviously don't care if you contact them in, fact they are encouraging it, it's under a heading called 'Actions' and when you hover over the email icon with your cursor it says 'Send Email to Customer'.
However, I suppose it depends on what your email says as to whether you're going to piss off ClickBank or the vendor. Like any email you need to abide by certain guidelines and you should make clear as to who you are.
There has been much discussion about this in the past and ClickBank has given people various conflicting answers, but the last consensus I heard was that as long as you are sending them an opt-in confirmation email first and they opt-in then it's fine to continue to email them.
Depending on your niche, vendor, and what you are emailing these people I think it's a good thing to do as you may be leaving money on the table if you are not contacting them, however you should also be prepared for ClickBank to pull the ability to email affiliates out of your account at any time without any notice, reason, forewarning, or explanation.

Miles - I've been building a list of past CB buyers. How do you best monetize a list like this? Do you try and promote similar products?

Hey Venrooy,
Yes, you want to follow up with them right away so they don't forget who you are. The best approach would be to offer them a free video or something explaining how to get the most out of the product they purchased. You can also use this as an enticement to get them to confirm (opt-in) to your list.
Then you should recommend related offers, products that can add-to or upgrade their existing purchase, or other related offers. The more related and targeted the offers the more sales you'll make. I would try to intersperse your offers with some valuable content yet making sure you include a way for them to buy something in every single email. You can also offer a list to them of related products kind of like Amazon.com does by saying 'Other people who purchased 'xyz product' also purchased these products...'
Even if you only have 5 to 10 follow-up offers in your autoresponder you'll be making extra money all the time.

I completely agree with Miles.
First Step: Send them an email with a reason to join your opt-in list. Once they join send them to a confrimation page with a link to a bonus video, extra chapter, bonus eBook, etc
Second: Make sure your Auto Responder pitches a combination of tools that would enhance the product they purchased, proven high converting CPA offers that are either free or trial based.
Third: Don't just pitch other products or email submit offers. Keep feeding them emails that they will trully get vaule from. Remember it is not the size of the list, but how responsive your list is!
Bottom line is that affiliates should definately try to align these buyers emails with their autoresponder. Emails of people that have already purchased a product are priceless!

It's also good to place newsletter signup form on your thank you page, where the user receives the product. Thus they will see it immediately.
I have seen also another technique, although I find it a bit intrusive. People make newsletter signup form the only content of their thank you page. So the user must subscribe in order to actually receive the product. I am curious what you guys think of this?

I think this is a great technique, although this only works for the vendor/merchant and not the affiliate.

Yeah, they write for example "Please Register...".
But I don't like this kind of force-marketing style.
Mike Filsaime does this pretty much and I hate it.
If one unsubscibes from him, one gets out of all his free memberships or so. I don't know exactly anymore.
