View Full Version : Fierce Competition: Has This Happened To You?

Hello everyone!

First of all, I wanted to say that it is a great pleasure to be part of the eWealth community. I'm a newbie affiliate marketer, doing this for about a month and a half now. I'm managed to make a few hundred dollars in gross sales (but if you factor in the money I've spent on Google AdWords, it's actually a loss).

I need some help.... I feel like I'm stuck in a rut and need some inspiration....

Using Clickbank and AdWords, I've tried to market about 4 or 5 different products, mostly high gravity ones.

I've applied what I've learned about optimizing my keywords and using affiliate cloaking and such. However, I think I'm running into issues due to competition. Please correct me if I'm wrong, or please chime in of course:

If I set all of my keywords in my ad groups to be the bare minimum CPC, which yields an "OK" or even a "Great" quality score... My ad STILL shows up on page 2 or page 3 of the search results. I get very few clicks.

I found that if I INCREASE my CPC until Google tells me that my "average rank" will place me in position 1-3 or 4-6, I get a huge upsurge in clicks.

Being that Google starts each new campaign day at midnight, I was all set to go with about 3 campaigns which I was running concurrently.... with keywords only, no content-network. I set a $5.00 per day budget for each of these 3 campaigns (for a total of $15).

By the time I woke up at 6AM this morning, all 3 of the campaigns were already at about $4.80+. I had maybe 25 clicks for each campaign. And much to my dismay: No sales!

Does this situation sound familiar to any of you?

Also, I noticed, when I was testing my campaigns the night before, that (because of the high gravity niche products I chose), that if I do a Google search on my most popular keywords, there are at any given moment, about three, four, or five OTHER sponsored ads ALL PROMOTING THE IDENTICAL PRODUCT! (They're all using their own domain names to achieve "affiliate cloaking", so Google's rule that multiple ads for the same domain name won't display at the same time doesn't apply here.)

So if I'm a customer and I'm clicking through each of the sponsored links, to pick the best one, I would see three websites that look IDENTICAL... because we are all pointing to the same Clickbank hoplink.

I guess I wouldn't be posting this message reaching out to you guys if I had actually gotten a sale...

Any ideas? Any inspiration? Am I doing something wrong? What can I do differently? Should I try a lower-gravity niche that has less competition? Should I throew more money at AdWords? Should I open up to the Content Network? Should I stick with it? How many clicks on average yields one conversion? (For every 100 clicks, you get 1 sale? Or can you do better?)

I mean, I'm feeling dejected after running a campaign from midnight to 6AM for ONE DAY. Should I give it more time?

Those of you who are making 10 sales per day, making a comfortable fulltime living doing this.... I am determined to join your ranks in due time.

Thanks for all your help!

hyderkhan, have you tried having a landing page with a email sign-up offering maybe a free report?

I personally find having a landing page offering a free sample report of the ebook pretty useful.

You can probably get a rebrandable sample report from the vendor..
