This used to be a big "secret technique" in the guru ebooks, but with Googles recent updates to the quality score it seems this is no longer viable. Sure you can and should have a separate adgroup with misspellings but gone are the days of the 5 and 10 cent keywords. Google will check your ad and landing page and see that "goggle cahs" is not relevant to your Google Cash Ad and raise the bid price.

But you can echo the keyword through your website using php. Misspellings and your competitors urls can be very lucrative keywords.

That's true, but I do find that a lot of misspelled keywords get as high scores as their originals. Maybe that has to do with Google having lots of info on a specific keyword/niche, therefore recognising it's misspelled versions as relevant.

That is a possible scenario.

there are fewer people vying for these keywords... so it may actually work IMO ;)

They don't work like they used to in the good ole days. Back then you could load up your account with every variation and misspelling of "free ringtones" and make a mint. Now google is far more interested in high ctr keywords with good volume because it's a more efficient use of their resources. So, it's not as effective as it was before and odds are you may get slapped with high min bids.
