Ok I feel really stupid because obviously I'm missing the purpose of doing this. Why does everyone write out [dot] and [at] when they're typing email addys....Wouldn't it just be easier to write the whole thing out so he can copy/paste?

They don't want their email accounts to be spammed. That is why (AT) is used to prevent email address grabbers adding them to email distribution lists.
